Tips on setting up the raised foil

Our Raised Foil cards have a large thickness of 19pt since they are printed on 16pt card material and laminated on both sides with 1.5 mil soft velvet laminate. For optimum results, please make sure that foil coverage is less than 50%. If not, the foil will be too heavy to grip. For raised foil cards, the smallest font size is 10 points.

Included in the package should be a Raised Foil Mask file that can be used with the standard CMYK print file to create a Raised Foil business card. The foil will be applied using the mask as a guide. Programs like Illustrator or Photoshop are advised as the mask file should be prepared in vector-based. To indicate where you desire the foil, it is strongly advised that you use solid black invariants like C 0%, M 0%, Y 0%, and K 100%. Stay away from employing glows, grayscale, or shadows because they won't be as effective and white won't display any foil. Avoid making knockouts. They may appear prettier but you end up having a change of up to 1/16" once the foil.
